Andrea has practiced as an RN in Intensive Care and Emergency Departments in the Los Angeles area and Arizona. Her background in Western medicine is a valuable adjunct to the comprehensive therapies she utilizes.
Eastern traditions form the other basis in her inclusive approach to health and healing therapies. Her practice of Kundalini Siddha Yoga includes physical relaxation exercises (asanas), meditation, breathing exercises (pranayama) and mantras (chanting sacred syllables, whose vibrations resonate and entrain with our body-mind-spirit).
She has studied Yoga in ashrams in India and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka, she also studied Acupuncture and Homeopathy with Dr. Sir Anton Jayasurya in the early 90’s. She has studied Eastern therapies in China, Tibet, Malaysia and Nepal. Yoga pilgrimages have taken her to Kumbha Melas, Egyptian and Mexican pyramids, Mt. Shasta, Russia, South America, North Africa and Europe. She studied in Mallorca during a summer in college, and traveled in Europe and Morocco.
Academic studies include: MS in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine at Samra University in Los Angeles; Marriage and Family Therapist, with an emphasis in Jungian Depth Psychology, at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, where she earned her MA; BA in Psychology from New York University.
